Dude, where's my snow?

Seriously, where did it go? The last couple of times my buddies (like my best buddy Ben the beagle) and I have gone to the dog park, it's been a winter wonderland. Racing around that place is so much more fun with a nice layer of powder. Sure it's a little harder to find tennis balls when they're buried in the stuff, but it's so much more rewarding when I track one down with my sniffer and liberate it from its frosty tomb. Plus it just looks cool to send snow flying as my buddies and I race around the park after each other. Now it's all gone and it feels like sunny Acapulco outside. This can't be the end of winter already can it? I've got to have at least one more snow day!

I have a new friend. It's not hard for me to make friends. I learned early on in life that I am unusually attractive, and that means that people want to hold, cuddle, and squish their faces in mine. Hmm, this doesn't seem to be so bad. I adapted quite easily and quickly to this life.

The Lady Who Is Friend To Many Dogs (really, she should do something about that name!) came by today to feed me, clean my box, and most importantly hold me. I greeted her at the door, purring before I even got the first rub on her leg out of the way. Yeah, I'm easy. She quickly took her coat off, set her things down and scooped me up into her arms. For the next 20 minutes I stretched across her lap, sometimes right to left, other times left to right. At that moment, there was no other place in the world that would have made me happier. She laughed at my purr. She said I sounded like a squeaky gear, turning ever so slowly, with a high pitched whine. I ignored her fun-making. Then she cradled me in her arms, wondering if this change would upset me. Nope. Like, I said earlier, I'm easy. She held me on my back and scratched my belly. It all feels so good!!

Our time together had come to an end, and she promised to visit me again tomorrow morning. Oh - a WHOLE day away, I'll just have to curl up, and take a nap (for 23 hours). Tomorrow, when she comes back, I'll expertly time my first purr of the day between the moment I hear the key in the door and before I get to rub on her leg.

It's my birthday. I wouldn't have known, except last night I got a cake. A cake means it's my birthday. Oscar (my cat) tried to get in on the action. I AM a pug, so his efforts were futile. He's slow, I'm fast, and it's MY birthday! I get all the cake. All of it. All. Of. It. Did I mention it was my birthday? Stupid Oscar for thinking he would get any of my cake.

Can you believe both Mom and Dad were going to be gone on my special day? Of course, they arranged for The Lady Who Is Friend To Many Dogs to visit me - I guess that was my second present; a walk with The Lady. Pretty cool, huh? But now Dad is going to be home. I'm torn between being excited that Dad will be here with me, and upset that I don't get to see The Lady. What's a pug to do? Mope and pine for The Lady or take advantage of Dad and try to get more cake?? I think you all know what the correct answer is. More cake please.

Wheezie
